Godliness and Reverence: Part 7

The hour has come for me to wake up from sleep, for my salvation is nearer now than when I first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. Therefore I will cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:11-12)

The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17)

Whatever is not from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23)

I must not test the Lord or grumble as some of the Israelites did. (1 Corinthians 10:9-10)

Whatever I do, I should do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

I want my conscience to testify that I have conducted myself in the world in the holiness and sincerity that are from God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, especially in my relations with others. (2 Corinthians 1:12)

Since I have God’s promises, I will cleanse myself from all pollution of body and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)

I am not trying to win the approval of men, but of God. If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)

God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. The one who sows to please his flesh will reap corruption; the one who sows to please the Spirit will of the Spirit reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:7-8)

I was once darkness, but now I am light in the Lord. I will walk as a child of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), learning what is pleasing to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:8-10)

Godliness and Reverence: Part 6

You have shown me what is good; and what does the Lord require of me but to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with my God? (Micah 6:8)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (Matthew 5:6)

I will take heed not to practice my righteousness before men to be seen by them. Otherwise, I will have no reward from my Father in heaven. (Matthew 6:1)

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. (Matthew 10:24-25)

I will not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul, but rather, I will fear the One who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)

I want to be more concerned about the things of God than the things of men. (Mark 8:33)

I do not want to justify myself in the eyes of men; God knows our hearts, and what is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God. (Luke 16:15)

I do not want to love praise from men more than praise from God. (John 12:43)

Like Barnabas, I want to be a good person, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. (Acts 11:24)

I will not be lacking in zeal, but I will keep fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. (Romans 12:11)

Godliness and Reverence: Part 5

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)

Blessed is the man who always fears God, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble. (Proverbs 28:14)

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord is set on high. (Proverbs 29:25)

I will fear God and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

I will stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils. For in what should he be esteemed? (Isaiah 2:22)

Who among us fears the Lord and obeys the word of His Servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God. (Isaiah 50:10)

As one who knows righteousness, who has Your law in my heart, I will not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their revilings. (Isaiah 51:7)

A person’s wickedness will punish him; his backsliding will reprove him. I know therefore and see that it is evil and bitter to forsake the Lord my God and have no fear of Him. (Jeremiah 2:19)

Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. (Jeremiah 17:5, 7)

I want to let justice roll down like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. (Amos 5:24)

Godliness and Reverence: Part 4

The ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He examines all his paths. (Proverbs 5:21)

The prospect of the righteous is joyful, but the hopes of the wicked will perish. (Proverbs 10:28)

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. (Proverbs 11:4)

The righteousness of the blameless makes a straight way for them, but the wicked will fall by their own wickedness. (Proverbs 11:5)

He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. (Proverbs 11:28)

In the way of righteousness there is life, and in that pathway there is no death. (Proverbs 12:28)

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. (Proverbs 14:34)

The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29)

All a man’s ways are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the motives. (Proverbs 16:2)

I will commit my works to the Lord, and my plans will be established. (Proverbs 16:3)

I have sought You with my whole heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. (Psalm 119:10)

Direct my footsteps according to Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. (Psalm 119:133)

Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but Your commands are my delight. (Psalm 119:143)

I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great spoil. I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love Your law. Great peace have they who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. O Lord, I hope for Your salvation, and I follow Your commands. My soul keeps Your testimonies, for I love them greatly. I keep Your precepts and Your testimonies, for all my ways are known to You. (Psalm 119:162-163, 165-168)

Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchmen stay awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. (Psalm 128:1)

Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name; the upright will dwell in Your presence. (Psalm 140:13)

I will honor the Lord with my wealth and with the firstfruits of all my increase. (Proverbs 3:9)

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter until the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. (Proverbs 4:18-19)

I will let my eyes look straight ahead, and fix my gaze straight before me. I will ponder the path of my feet so that all my ways will be established. I will not turn to the right or to the left but keep my foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:25-27)
